A native of Hart County, Mrs. Starks was a daughter of Bulah Blackwell Roebuck and the late Eugene Roebuck and was the widow of James Starks. She was a member of St. John CME Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John CME Church with the Rev. J. Sims officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was 68. Mrs. Colley a native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, was the daughter of the late Mr. Lee H. and Ruth Christian Huff of Farmington. She was preceded in death by a brother Franklin Huff. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Colley, of Farmington, GA, a daughter and a son-in-law Cindy and Keith Savage of Farmington, GA, three sisters, Mrs. Alice Pritchett of Farmington, GA, Mrs. Louvie Ruark of Bostwick, GA, and Mrs. Glenda Gabriel of Winterville, GA, four brothers, Mr. Edd Huff, Mr. Gene Huff, Mr. Joe Huff all of Farmington, GA, and Mr. Vick Huff of Hull, GA, two grandchildren, Eric Savage and C.J. A native of DeKalb County, Mr. Hendrix was a son of the late John Steve and Lois Irene Mitchel Hendrix. He was a retired top polisher in the granite industry and was a U.S. Army paratrooper veteran of World War II, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, participated in the Normandy Invasion and was a well-decorated veteran, receiving the Purple Heart. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Waymon Dotson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor McGill Hendrix; two daughters, Wanda K. Galt Jr. Athens Bill Galt, 82, formerly of 825 Hill Street, Athens died Sunday, February 13, 2000 at Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville. A native of Wise County, VA, Mr. Galt was a son of the late William Richard Galt, Sr. and Maria Ward Skelton Galt. He was a retired professor and school teacher. He taught Spanish to Middle and High School students in Covington and Athens and later taught Spanish at West Georgia College in Carrollton and the University of Georgia. He had studied in both Mexico and Cuba. Major Galt served in the US Army in World War II and afterward in the Army Reserves. He was the organizer and commander of the local Army Reserve Unity, something of which he was very proud. Mr. Galt was a dedicated member of the Athens Area Kiwanis Club and served on a number of committees and as president. In the early 1980's while visiting in the Philippines he helped start a local chapter of Kiwanis. He was awarded the Legion of Honor, which is the highest award by the Kiwanis. He was also a member of The Athens Country Club and Retired Officers Association. A lifelong Episcopalian, he belonged to Emmanuel Episcopal Church and at various times he volunteered for a number of ministries there. During the sixties he was a Lay Reader and frequently visited mission churches which were without a priest to lead them in Morning Prayer. Very committed to his Scottish heritage he was one of the organizers of the local Scottish societies and every year on New Year's Eve held a Hogmanay at his home on Hill Street. He is mourned by his wife, Evelyn Epps Galt, and his three children: Billy Galt and his wife, Cindy Johnston Galt, Panama City, FL, Sylvia Galt Novak and her husband, Norm Novak, Lawrenceville, and Mary Virginia (Ginger) Galt, Athens; three grandchildren: Jason and his wife, Paige Gilbert Galt, Denny Galt and Gabriel Galt. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Major Galt is remembered for his kind, humorous and charitable ways. The family will be receiving friends at Bernstein Funeral Home on Friday night from 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Prince Avenue with Rev.
