Mary Marie Tharpe, 89, formerly of 804 Williams St., Paris, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 14, 2000. A native of Cottage Grove, Tenn., Mrs. Tharpe was a daughter of the late Butler Banks and Effie House and was the widow of Booker Tharpe. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Nell Tharpe. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Rawls Funeral Home, Paris, Tenn. Burial will be in Cedar Hills Cemetery. A native of West Orange, N.J., Mr. Poulsen was a son of the late Edvard P. and Augusta Nelson Poulsen. He was a graduate of Rutgers University and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a systems analyst formerly employed by Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, N.J., for 20 years and was retired from the State of South Carolina Department of Insurance. He was a former school board member in Coldwell-West Coldwell, N.J. and served on the United Way Board there. He was a member of Toccoa First United Methodist Church and Rhodes Sunday School Class. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Toccoa First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Claude Smithmier, Jim Bocian and Jack Lamb officiating. Survivors include his wife, Vera Swenson Poulsen; a daughter, Christine Fountain, Cartersville; a son, Peter Poulsen, The Woodlands, Texas; and four grandchildren.
