Cherokee Road died Thursday, March 16, 2000. A native of Mitchell County, Mrs. Garth was a daughter of the late Roy Lifton Porter and Josiewill Taylor and was the widow of Robert Garth. She was a teacher's aid. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Simmons Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Hasty officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, Sylvester. Survivors include four daughters, Delores G. Anderson, Warner Robbins, Amelia D. Steel and Candee Galloway, both of Madison, and March Gail D. Bonanno, Miami; four sons, W. She was a member of Rockwell Universalist Church and attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She taught from 1930-1969 at Rockwell, County Line, Holsenbeck and Bethlehem elementary schools. He was retired from the grounds department of the University of Georgia and was a member of Nimno A.M.E. Church, Nicholson. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Nimno A.M.E. Virginia Nan Danner Smith, the daughter of Walter N. Danner, former Registrar for the University of Georgia dies after bout with cancer. Virginia Nan Smith, age 62 died March 15th at her home in Butner. Mrs. Smith, a veteran educator of 37 years taught at South Granville High School since 1981. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors of Science, and a Masters of Education Degree and Johnson and Wales School of Culinary Arts. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Eddie L. Smith, her three sons and their wives, John and Stephanie Tate of Roseville, CA, Stillman and Debbie Tate of Butner, NC, Jim and Janet Tate of Creedmoore, NC and three grandsons, Tyler and Brandon Tate of Roseville, CA and Jordan Tate of Butner, NC and her Brother, Mr. Ray Danner of McLean, VA. She is also Survived by four stepchildren Patricia Mclaughlin of Perry, GA, Deborah Hurst of Lawrenceville, GA, Lee Smith Jr. of Nashville, TN and Mark Smith of LeMoore, CA and ten step grandchildren. She is also survived by her Aunt, Mrs. Mary Artis Danner Dennis of Staunton, VA and a cousin, Mrs. Nancy Rosel of Mechanicsville, VA.
