A son of the late Homer P. and Mary Elizabeth Rooks Oliver, Mr. Oliver was a member of the Winder First Methodist Church and the Methodist Mens Club. He was a retired salesman for Southwestern Publishing and served as a captain in the US Army. He was a 1959 graduate of the University of Georgia and early in his career he was a teacher at Winder-Barrow High School. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Oliver of Winder; a son and daughter in law: Kevin and Christine Oliver of Nashville, TN. and a son: Derek Oliver of Oxford, Ohio; a brother and sister in law: Charles and June Oliver of Winder; and one nephew.
