A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. Willis was a daughter of the late Tom and Nellie Reed and was the widow of Jerry Willis. She was a member of Fortson Grove Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fortson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Jones officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a sister, Clara Strong, Commerce; a grandchild; a niece and nephew raised in the home, Susie Smith and Joe Harper, both of Elberton. Hicks, who once forced a committee meeting to adjourn for lack of a quorum by declaring ''I'm not here,'' died Sunday of a heart attack. He was 74. Hicks was a crafty Democrat who at a 1989 meeting of the Senate Oversight Committee blocked a vote on the method for selecting state Supreme Court justices by insisting he was absent, thereby preventing the committee from meeting its quorum. Dickens of Watkinsville died March 19, 2000. He was 87. A native and life long resident of Oconee County, he was the son of the late F.F. Dickens Sr. and Annie Jones Dickens. Very active in his community, he was retired from Thornton Brothers Paper Co. He was an Elder and member of Union Christian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Woodmen of the World. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday in Union Christian Church with remains placed in the church at 1:30 pm. The Rev. Keith Weekley and the Rev. Patrick Chandler will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church and enjoyed her association with the Jolly Elders and the Extension Service Sewing Club. A sports enthusiast, she loved to attend the many athletic events of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Chastain was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G.W. McCurley Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.E. Chastain. Chas was a retired UGA District Extension Agent. Survivors include her children, Fay Brassie, Edwina Johnson, Woody and Ricky. Sons/daughters-in-law, Stan Brassie, Tom Johnson, Susanne and Betsey Chastain. Grandchildren and spouses: Trey and Saskia Thompson, Wyatt Johnson and Celsa Gonzalez, Christa and Bill Shaffer, Kelley and Cole Barks, Tal and Karen Thompson, Melaney and David Perno and Chas, Lucy and Elizabeth Chastain.
