A native of Catawba County, N.C., Mr. Buff was a son of the late Neal and Sally Lafone Buff. He was a retired machine operator and elder, and member of the brotherhood of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Toccoa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hamby Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger and Pastor Roger Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens North. Survivors include his wife, Malinda Rhoney Buff; a daughter, Janice B. Elam, Chicago; a son, Richard Buff, Duluth; a sister, Margie Hogan, Kinard, S.C.; and three grandchildren. A native of Putnam County, Mrs. Laster was a daughter of the late Connie and Viola Maddox, was the widow of Charlie Laster and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Parrish. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hill Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel L. Pridgon officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Cordelia Laster, Katherine Barnett and Charlene Laster, all of Athens; a son, Edward Laster, Watkinsville; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was retired from the University of Georgia and was employed in the Clarke County School District. He was a member of Waggoner's Grove Baptist Church where he served as senior usher and on the deacon's board. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Waggoner's Grove Baptist Church, Colbert, with the Rev. Roy L. Thomas officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Colbert Grove Church cemetery. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Dove was a son of the late Jim Lou and Emma Fowler Dove. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was retired from True Stone Granite Company, was a World War II Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, and was of the Baptist faith. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with the Rev. Randall Starrett officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Sanders Dove; two daughters, Martha Ann Hulme, Bowman, and Melissa Gail Jones, Hartwell; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. The family is at the residence. A native of Big Springs, W.Va., Mrs. Richards was a daughter of the late Artie Cunningham and Frances Hardman, was the widow of Hoy Richards and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Katherine Christian. She had been a resident of Winder since 1973, was a homemaker and wrote a column for the Winder News titled ''From Out My Kitchen Window.'' A member of the Republican Party, she was a former member of Beech Valley UMC in West Virginia and a member of First UMC in Bethlehem. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wise-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem UMC cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Judith Byler, Winder; a son, Hoy B. Browning, age 88, of 276 S. Burson Ave., Bogart, Ga. The Rev. Fletcher Law and the Rev. Merritt Waters will officiate. Mrs. Browning died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens following an extended illness. Mrs. Browning was a native of Hall County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Lumsden and Ethel Ashford Lumsden. She was a graduate of Brenau College and was a retired teacher. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years in Charlotte, N.C., and in the Hall and Banks county areas. She was known as the ''poetry lady'' and as an artist. She was an active volunteer for years at the Gateway Shelter for Battered Women and at the Georgia Mountains Museum. She was a member of the Lula United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Marion Browning, and her sister, Mrs. J.C. (Ruth) Morrison Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Dottie Adams, Bogart, and Helen Howard Browning, Sophia, N.C.; a sister, Helen Lumsden Martin, Atlanta; two grandchildren, Chris Adams, Watkinsville, and Casey Adams, Bogart; and a brother-in-law, Dr. J.C. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Callaway had lived most of his life in Clarke and Oconee counties. He was the son of the late Cleve and Sindie Helton Callaway and the husband of the late Lois Brewer Callaway. He was a retired welder and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Jeff Grover, Watkinsville, and Michelle and David Williamson, Hull; two sisters, Dora Mae Beck, Hull, and Sybil Irene Massey, Toccoa; and four grandchildren, Donna Rene Bullock, Hilton Head, S.C., Jeffery Tuck Grover II, Watkinsville, and Brittney Callaway and Whittney Callaway, both of Hull. Pallbearers will be Blanton Michael Dove, Dub Gabriel, Randy Gabriel, James Gerrin, Jeff Gerrin, Josh Grimes, Norman Paugh, Allen Kim Stephens, Ronnie Williams and Chris Williamson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, from the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Father John Cotterell officiating.
