Dr. Randolph was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was a son of Brady F. Randolph, Oxford, Ohio, and Evelyn Hill Hughes, Athens, Georgia. A Professor of Music and member of the Graduate Faculty in the University of Georgia School of Music, Dr. Randolph earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Virginia University; the Master of Music in Performance and Literature, the Performers Certificate, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Prior to coming to the University of Georgia in 1973, Dr. Randolph served in the United States Army as a member of the United States Army Band (Pershing's Own) in Washington, D.C. At UGA he taught tuba and euphonium, directed the Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and performed in the Georgia Brass Quintet and the Georgia Brass. Dr. Randolph was an internationally known recitalist and chamber music musician who advanced the tuba and its literature as a solo instrument. He produced recordings, presented lecture recitals, and served as the Associate Editor for New Music of the T.U.B.A. Journal. Dr. Randolph's students won national and international competitions, and many now teach in schools of music across the United States. Dr. Randolph's professional and honorary music associations included in T.U.B.A. (Tuba United Brotherhood Association), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Phi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Kappa Psi, the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA), and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens. Survivors in addition to his mother and father include his wife, Peggy A. Randolph, his son, Geoffrey Randolph, and daughter, Chelsea Anne Randolph, of Athens; a brother, Christopher H. Randolph, Tallmadge, Ohio; and two stepsisters, Barbara Jean Hosey, Manassas, Virginia, and Kristi I. Randolph, Oxford, Ohio.
