A native of Jones County, Mr. Porter was a son of the late Adlai Ewin and Mary D. Bradley Porter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was retired as district conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He was a graduate of Oconee County High School and the University of Georgia. He was a member of Bishop Methodist Church and received the UGA Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a member of VFW Adams Walker Post 4259, Greensboro, and was a past member of Greensboro Lions Club.
