A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Nowell was a son of Eddie Lee and Fannie Lunceford Nowell, Athens. He was an army veteran. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Saint Mark A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Archibald Killian officiating. A native and lifelong resident of Clarke County, Mr. Stevens was a son of the late William F. and Emma Bailey Stevens, and was the widower of Florine Shackelford Stevens. He was a graduate of Watkinsville High School and attended aircraft mechanic school during World War II. He was retired from Wellington Puritan Mills and was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home with the Rev. Martha Courie officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Angelia Stevens Wood, Roanoke, Va., and Billie Rene Link, Watkinsville; a sister, Lily Pejsa, Duluth; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He worked as a grounds keeper with the University of Georgia Athletic Department or the past 17 years and was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors in addition to his mother include a brother, Terry Dean, Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Neil Murphy, Tucker; and a nephew, Mark Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Morris Sapp, Rev. Claude McBride and Athletic Director Vince Dooley officiating. He was retired from the United States Navy after 23 years of service and was also retired from the shipping department of the Dana Corporation. He was also a member of the Oconee Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Annie O'Kelley Hamby, Athens; son, Horace (Sonny) Hamby Jr., Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Tommy Lyon, Athens; brother, Cliff C. Hamby, Athens; grandson, Timothy Christopher Lyon, Athens; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Justin Lyon, Athens. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Oconee Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Crist Camden officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
