She was born in Ada, Minnesota on May 28, 1914 to Paul and Alta Onstad. Miriam spent most of her adult life in Georgia. She was married to Dr. Ralph E. Wenzel for many years, residing in Athens, Social Circle and Monroe. After Ralph's death, Miriam later married Harris M. Mitchell of Athens, GA. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Pastor Brent Ross officiating. Survivors include a son, Barry E. Wenzel, Athens, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara W. and Barry Deutsch, San Francisco, CA, Priscilla W. and Tom Lovoy, Birmingham, AL, Margaret W. and Danny Sorrells, Monroe, GA; stepdaughters, and stepsons-in-law: Margie M. and Neil Bird, Ringgold, GA, Babs M. and Sonny Conlon, Augusta, GA; three sisters: Rebecca O. She was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Onstad. Miriam was a lively and happy person. Curious about life, her intelligent spirit led her through a wide variety of interests. She was a soulful person who lived her faith in her daily life. She had a genuine love for God and exhibited this love to all she met. She gave of her time and energy to her community. She will be remembered as a woman who inspired those around her with love and affection. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Hospice, 700 S. He was a retired self-employed barber and a member of the Medinah Shrine Temple in Chicago, IL. He was a US Army World War II veteran and received the Purple Heart during his tour of duty. Margaret graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School in 1967 and attended Abraham Baldwin College and the University of Maryland extension at RAF Chicksands near Bedford, England. She graduated from Athens Tech in 1976 and worked as an operating room technician at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens 1977-1979. She graduated from Augusta College in 1988 and worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, Wills Memorial Hospital and CSRA Home Health. She was a member of Kettle Creek Chapter DAR and Organist and Elder of Washington Presbyterian Church. Margaret is survived by her husband; a son, Robert (Rob) Strother; a daughter, Lindsey Strother; a granddaughter, Hannah Strother; her mother; a step-sister, Denise Skelton, of Hohenwald, Tennessee; a step-brother, Donnie Lindsey, of Big Springs, Texas; and an ''adopted'' brother, Alan Lindsey, of Alpharetta, GA; aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and a host of wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her father, her aunt, Virginia Robert, in 1990; and her uncle, Bob Lindsey, in 1998.
