A native of Washington County, Mr. Franklin was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Midville Baptist Church, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and of Burke County Farm Bureau. He was voted Georgia State Farmer of the Year in high school. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Midville Baptist Church with the Revs. James Bohannon, M.F. Price and Terry Joyner officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Midville City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Annie Coglin Franklin; two daughters, Barbara Brantley, Watkinsville, and Betty Franklin, Atlanta; two sons, Howard Franklin, Watkinsville, and Jerome Franklin, Waynesboro; a sister, Julia Polk, Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Billy Franklin, Warner Robins; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hart was a son of Mary Norton Hart, Canon, and the late Joe Belton Hart. He was a mechanic in the textile industry and was a former employee of Dundee Manufacturing, Hartwell. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston. Allen Huff, Sr., 93, of 1014 Athens Road, died January 24, 2000. A native of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Joseph Edman and Vidella England Huff and the widower of Ruby Frances Huff. A lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, he was one of the Founders of Oglethorpe County Farm Bureau into which he was given lifetime membership. For 22 years he served on the Crawford City Council and was Founder and Chair of the City Christmas Tree from 1949-1998. Mr. Huff served as Chairman of the Draft Board during the Vietnam Era. Until recent years, he was Land Agent for Hugh and N.A. Hardin of Forsyth, GA, Pete Wheeler of Atlanta and Mrs. Eugenia Friend of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 27, 2000 at 3:00 PM at Crawford United Methodist Church with Revs. David C. Jordan, Jim Hinzman and B.G. Miller officiating.
