She was the daughter of the late Guy W. and Helen W. Firor, also of Athens, Georgia. Sarah was a 1933 graduate of the University of Georgia, receiving her B.S. in Commerce. She worked for the Mosquito Control Survey in Savannah and the Flood Control Survey of the Department of Agriculture in Cartersville, Ga. Sarah served in the WAVES during WWII, where she became an Aerographeris Mate stationed in Washington, D.C. In 1949 she graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Fine Arts, majoring in pottery. While at UGA she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. In 1949 she joined the Berea College faculty as circulation librarian. In 1967 she completed her M.S. in Library Science at Florida State University and was promoted at Berea College to assistant professor of library science and reference librarian. Sarah was active in the Business and Professional Woman's Club, for which she served as secretary, and the American Association of University Women. She served as president of the Berea College chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. Sarah retired from Berea College in 1977. In 1985 she was made an honorary alumna of Berea College. In 1986 she was made Emeritus Life Member of Phi Kappa Phi. In 1990 Sarah moved back to Athens with her family, becoming involved with church, AAUW, and B&PW. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Sarah is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Guy W. and Dorothy Holcombe Firor of Atlanta; a sister, Ms. Dorothy Firor of 724 Cobb Street in Athens; a nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Guy H. Firor of Buford; a niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hogan of Acworth; a niece, Ms. Helen R. Firor of Marietta; a great-nephew, Damon Hogan of Acworth; a great-niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Parker of Buford; twin great-nephew and great-niece, Christopher and Allison Firor, both of Athens, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Athens First United Methodist Church with Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. The body will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to the service. Visitors and friends will be received in the church parlor from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The New Day Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. A native of Bibb County, Mr. Montford was a son of Addie Z. Montford, Decatur, and Ulysses Grant Montford Sr., Macon. He was a 1989 graduate of Southwest High School and served eight years in the U.S. Navy and was a Gulf War veteran. He was a real estate broker and a member of Beulahland Bible Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beulahland Bible Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. McCurdy was a son of the late Philip and Joyce Kassuba McCurdy. He was a 1959 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in meteorology and was retired from the U.S. Weather Bureau and IBM. He was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K organization, the Hart County Meals on Wheels, and the AARP Tax Aide program. The family will hold private services at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Helen T.
