A native of Franklin County, Mr. Scott was a son of the late Henry and Clara Pritchett Scott. Before retirement, he had worked as a machinist for Milliken Industries for 25 years. He was a member of Hunters Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 35 years. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2000 Jewell Rebecca Adams Canon Miss Jewell Rebecca Adams, 94, of 555 Beaverdam Farm Rd., Canon, Georgia died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at her home. Miss Adams was born in Elbert County, Ga., September 12, 1905, daughter of the late Wesley A. and Stella Pulliam Adams. She was a retired school teacher and was a Graduate of Royston High School, attended State Normal College in Athens, Ga., and received her B.A. degree from the University of Georgia. Miss Adams lived in the Adams home place for the last 44 years. Miss Adams' 41-year teaching career began at age 18 in the community of Mt. Vernon in Hart County, Georgia. She held other Elementary School teaching positions including Holly Springs in Elbert County, Ga., Swainsboro, Leslie, Norcross, Jefferson, Fort Valley, Toccoa, and Canon, Ga. She was an outstanding teacher, counselor, and friend to her students. She was a devout Christian and dedicated worker in the Royston United Methodist Church where she had been a member for 82 years. Survivors include sisters and brother-in-law Mrs. Frances Adams Floyd, Decatur, Georgia, Mrs. Mary Alice Adams Hamner and Dr. William Hamner, Norcross, Georgia; brother, Dr. Charles P. Adams, Atlanta, Georgia. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Miss Adams will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Chapel of the Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mrs. Beasley was born in Franklin County, GA on August 28, 1900 to the late George Allen Brown and Molly Wheeler Brown. She lived near Lavonia until recent years and was a caring mother and homemaker. Her husband, J.H. Beasley, and her only son, Walter George Beasley, preceded her in death. She was a longtime member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church, Lavonia, GA, the last surviving member of her Fidelis Sunday School Class, and a member of the UDC. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Beasley, and four grandchildren, Walter George Beasley, Martha Beasley Hill, John Hamilton Beasley and Jeffrey Brown Beasley. And the following great-grandchildren: George Duncan Beasley, James Bart Beasley, John Benton Beasley, William Loren Beasley, Evan Hamilton Beasley, Sarah Camilla Beasley and Kelsey Ann Beasley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beasley was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Blanche Mize, Mattie Lee Sewell, Bonnie Williams, and 2 brothers: Lawrence Brown and Luther Brown.
