She was retired after 75 years as founder and owner of Bonner Cafe and was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church. She was featured in Southern Living, Atlanta Journal, LA Times and Augusta Chronicle. Atlanta television news featured her biography and she was honored by the Governor's Commission for restaurant tourism. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crawfordville Baptist Church with the Rev. A native of Kosciusko, Mississippi, Mr. Baine was the son of the late James and Mary Montgomery Baine. He was a 1931 graduate of Tupelo High School. He received his BA in 1935 from Southwestern at Memphis, his MA from Vanderbilt, was a Rhodes Scholar at Merifon at Oxford in 1936, and his PhD from Harvard. He was an instructor of English at MIT and a professor of the English Department at the University of Richmond, Delta State University of Alabama at Montevallo, and the University of Georgia since 1962. He authored books on William Blake, Daniel Defoe, Robert Munford, and James Oglethorpe. He was a member of the Athens Symphony. He served with the US Army during WWII. She was born September 11, 1905 in the Antioch community of Oconee County. She was the oldest child of the late Oscar and Ossie Phillips Fambrough. She was a homemaker and operated a dairy farm until 1960. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer Wise Jennings, and William A. Stovall, a son James T. Jennings, a sister, Lizzie Ruth Lavender, and a brother, Lindsey L. Fambrough. Mrs. Stovall attended Rose Hill School, and at the time of her death was the oldest member of Antioch Christian Church. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Women's Fellowship and the Central Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Wise Elder Lavender and Sara J. Downs of Watkinsville, and Ann Duggan Johnson of Greenville, S.C., a daughter-in-law, Annette Jennings, a sister-in-law, Geneva Fambrough, and one son-in-law Carl L. Lavender of Watkinsville, a stepdaughter and son-in-law Richard and Joyce Stovall Roberts of Dunwoody, GA. Her grandchildren are Sammy and Gwen Elder Hansford, Wayman and Jean Downs Branton, David and Martha Elder Williams, Ken and Phyllis Jennings of Watkinsville, David and Kathryne Duggan Bailey, Cary Lee Johnson, and Carl and Ahndrea Johnson of Greenville, S.C.
