Acree Decatur Emmie Sue Verner Acree, 84, formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Acree was a daughter of the late Davis and Mary McFarlin Verner and was the widow of Joe M. Acree. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Rev. David Sosebee officiating. Survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Howell, Snellville, and Nancy Merrill, Lilburn; sons, Joe M. Acree Jr., Norcross, Henry D. Acree and Frank M. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Isbell was a daughter of the late Claude and Icie Cash Roberson. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and the Gleanors Sunday School Class. She was retired from Coats and Clark after 13 years. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Fennell and Herbert Doud officiating. A native of Vance County, N.C., Mr. Hobgood was a son of the late Noel Hayes Hobgood Sr. and Corine Evans Hobgood. He was a U.S. Marines Corps veteran of World War II and played for the New York Giants Baseball Organization from 1946-1949. He was retired from Export Leaf and Tobacco Co. after 30 years, was a produce farmer and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at J.M. White Funeral Home with Dr. Marion D. Lark and the Rev. Ben Sims officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lynch Hobgood; a daughter, Patricia H . He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, where he was former chairman of the deacon board and was a master mason of Davenport Lodge 652.
