He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and was an honorary member of the Georgia Sheriff's Association. A native of White County, Mr. Vandiver was a son of the late William and Leila Mae Self Vandiver and was the widower of Nellie John Rowe Vandiver. He was a self-employed carpenter, was of the Baptist faith and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Starr was the daughter of the late Dozier Tarpley and Ellen Hall Phillips and was the widow of Raymond Lee Starr. She resided at Wesley Woods Towers NE Atlanta, where she was past president of the Residents Association. She was a member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, Decatur, Georgia where she served as past president of the Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Roper School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for Dr. R. Maxwell Anderson for 25 years in Charleston. She and her late husband were founding members of Grace United Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. A native of Stephens County, Mr. LeCroy was a son of the late Tom and Ira Lawson LeCroy. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Men's Adult Sunday School Class and was a former ordained deacon. He had served on the Board of Deacons of Northside Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school director there. He was retired from Matheson Furniture Plant and had worked at Singer Manufacturing Co. and Trogdon Furniture Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the infantry division in Germany and other parts of Europe. He was a prisoner of war in Germany and received the Eta Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He volunteered at Stephens County Hospital and was a member of AARP. He was a life member of Ex-POW, Mountaineer Chapter, the DAV and VFW Post 4346. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Petty, LeRoy Phillips and David Richey officiating. Burial will be in Allens United Methodist Church cemetery. A graduate of North Georgia College and the University of Georgia, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Toccoa, and past president of the Agoga Bible class. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and held a 50-year membership in the American Legion post 104. He was president and manager of Master Furniture Co., Toccoa. He was a member of Toccoa Deer Hunters Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post number 4346, Toccoa Masonic Lodge Number 309 and was a charter member of Toccoa Elks Lodge. He served as past commander of Knights Templar. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Henry Fields and Dale Twilley officiating.
