Ellis Lavonia Bruce M. Ellis, 83, of 4521 Providence Church Road died Sunday, March 26, 2000. A native of Flint, Mich., Mr. Ellis was a son of the late Warren C. and Mary Ella Hewitt Ellis. He served in the Infantry and in the Combat Engineers in World War II and in the Infantry and Special Forces in Korea. His awards include the Combat Infantry Badge, three Bronze Stars, Heroic Achievement in Action, Army Corps, the ACM, DCA and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He received nine service, foreign and theater decorations with five battle stars. He retired as a Lt. Colonel. He was affiliated with the Florida Adult Education System at the university, junior college and high school levels, including the adult agriculture program. He was involved in promoting the Rural Electric Administration to provide electricity for rural areas in Florida. He was a member of the Florida Sailing Association and the North American Yacht Racing Union. He retired from the building trade. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hartwell, with John Parnell officiating. Survivors include his wife, Rita H. Ellis; a daughter, Patricia E. Parnell, Hartwell; a son, David B. Ellis, St. Petersburg; a sister, Thelma Osterman, Michigan; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
