A pharmacist for more than 50 years, he was owner of Commerce Drug Company and a volunteer with Jackson County Meals on Wheels. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Yankee Harber of Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James J. and Jeanne Harber III of Greenville, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Helen Harber and Chris Singer of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, George Harber of Macon, and William N.
