OBITUARIES Story last updated at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2001 Mike Lorenz Blues singer ATLANTA -- An Atlanta blues singer was found dead Tuesday in a burning car that was parked behind his home. Mike Lorenz, 49, was at the wheel of his convertible after someone passing by called 911 on a cellphone at 6 a.m. and firefighters put out the blaze. Lorenz was lead singer and guitarist for the Shadows, the house band at Blind Willie's, a blues nightclub in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. An autopsy showed that Lorenz died of smoke inhalation, and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death an accident, said Al Boudy, a senior investigator with the examiner's office. Fire investigators were not sure what started the car fire but did not find anything suspicious, Fire Department spokeswoman Jolene Butts Freeman said.
