She was a a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a school teacher and librarian at LaGrange and Dalton public libraries and the University of Georgia. A native of Woodstock, Ala., Mr. Brooks was a son of the late Olin P. and Georgia Mae White Brooks. He taught school at Hazel Grove and Cornelia Elementary Schools. He later retired from the Department of Corrections as a vocational counselor. He was a United States Navy veteran who served in World War II, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7720, and was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornelia United Methodist Church with the Revs. Wayne Smith, Bob Ramsey, Marcus Martin, and Jack Summers officiating.
