Alexander Winterville Eleanor S. Alexander, 82, died January 4, 2001. Mrs. Alexander was born in Sasser, Ga. (Terrell County). She was a daughter of the late Mr. Clem Hillman and Marshalley Marshall Smith. Mrs. Alexander was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and the University of North Carolina with degrees in English and Library Science. After serving as librarian in public schools in Rochelle, Americus and Marietta, Ga., she was employed at the Georgia Institute of Technology Library for 12 years. Mrs. Alexander was of the Baptist faith. In 1967 she married Walter Dorsey Alexander; he preceded her in death in 1997. After living at her sister's home for a short while and for a few months at Magnolia Manor in Americus, she had been a resident at Winterville Retirement Center, near Athens, since March 1998. Survivors include her sister: Mrs. Carolyn Wilfong and her husband Mr. William ''Sid'' Wilfong of Athens; their daughter, Gail; a son, Bill; a step-son, Walter D. Alexander Jr.; and several cousins.
