Long St. died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2001. A native of Hall County, Mr. McElreath was a son of the late James ''Jim'' and Adda Greenway McElreath and was the widower of Thelma Drake McElreath. He was retired from the textile industry, was a farmer and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Brooks McElreath; a daughter, Velma Barber, Watkinsville; a stepson, Coy Brooks, Comer; a sister, Emma Strickland, Hull; a brother, Charlie McElreath, Danielsville; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was an elevator contractor with the National Elevator Industry and was a Communicant of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Thunderbolt. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 Pauline Margaret Nicholls Athens Pauline Margaret Nicholls, of University Drive, died Saturday, February 3, following an extended illness. A native of Liverpool, England, Ms. Nicholls was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Dickson. She came to the United States in 1955 and lived in Athens from 1957 to 1959, returning permanently in 1964. A 1983 graduate of University of Georgia School of Law, Ms. Nicholls was an attorney in private practice in Monroe. She also held a Master of Business Education from the University of Georgia and a teaching diploma from Ottawa (Canada) Teacher's College. Before entering law, she had been an Executive Secretary, first at International House in Philadelphia, then at Westinghouse in Athens. For a number of years she was a realtor/broker in Athens. She also taught, first in high school in Ottawa, then in the paralegal program at Athens Technical Institute. Ms. Nicholls was a founding member of Town and Gown Guild and acted during the 1970s. She was a past president of the University Women's Club. As a talented amateur writer, she was completing a children's book at the time of her death. She is survived by her son Peter Jeffrey Nicholls of Athens; a brother William Dickson of Gorham, Maine; and a sister Elizabeth Dean of Angus, Ontario in Canada. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Avenue. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
