A native of Bosworth, Mo., Mr. Grout was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a law degree and was employed in law enforcement with the FBI, was chief probation officer in Kansas City, Mo., and was a judge with the U.S. Parole Board in Washington, D.C. He retired in Athens. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Saint James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Reynolds officiating. The Rev. Jack Pierce will officiate with interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Mr. Beck died Friday, July 6, 2001 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Beck was the son of the late John Roland and Pearl Howington Beck. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked for 34 years. He was a former deacon and member of Mulberry Baptist Church. Mr. Beck is preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Loggins Beck, and a brother, L.C. Beck. The family is accepting flowers, but those desiring may make memorial contributions to a favorite charity. A former resident of Commerce, she served as pianist and organist for over twenty years for the Commerce First Baptist Church and the Commerce Presbyterian Church. She co-founded the Joy Hallmark Shoppe in Commerce. After moving to Watkinsville in 1984, she became associated with the Oconee Public Library and was an active member of the Beech Haven Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Joy Class. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2001 in Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Dr. Stewart Simms and R. Ray Austin will officiate. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, O.
