Edwards Commerce Loy M. Edwards, 85, of 206 Sims Bridge Rd. died Sunday, July 8, 2001. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Edwards was a son of the late Molly Short Edwards and Jim Edwards. He was retired from Roper Pump Company and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jackson Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Johnny Ray officiating. Survivors include his wife, Tharra Varner Edwards; a brother, Stoy Edwards, Commerce; and a sister, Maryleen Evans, Commerce. The family is at the residence. A native of Toccoa, Mr. Hardy was a son of the late Claude E. and Ida E. Herbert Hardy, and a widower of Adeline ''Addie'' Hardy. He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd William Hardy. He was retired in 1986 from Magnavox Corp. as an electronic technician after 36 years of service. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #47 in Ft. Wayne. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitlock Mortuary. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Hardy, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two grandsons, Brain Hardy and Anthony Hardy, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Survivors include two daughters, Claudine Bell, Toccoa, and Betty Parker, Mt. A native of Arapalo, Okla., formerly of Gainesville and Toccoa, Mr. Curtis received his BA Degree and a LLB degree from the University of Georgia. After passing the Georgia Bar Exam, he spend over 40 years in public service. He was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and retired after 26 years. He was the legal attache in the American Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua and Lima, Peru. He was the Director of the Institute of Continuing Education in Georgia from 1967-1982, and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and Athens. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Dr. Glenn Doak officiating. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Williams Curtis; three sons, James W. Curtis, Jr., Fairfax, Va., Bruce W. Curtis, Athens, and Lee W. Curtis, and Lee W. Curtis, Ifrane, Morocco; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home.
