A native of Walton County, Mr. Doster was a son of the late John Odus and Allie Snelling Doster. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Doster Myers, and by two sons, an infant and James Steven Doster. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Macon Drive Baptist Church and Carpenter's Local 225. Services were Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Clarence Ensley officiating. Burial was in the Doster Family Cemetery. He was employed in Health Service at the University of Florida. Dr. Phillips joined the University of Georgia Health Service in 1973 and retired in 1988. He founded the Nurse Practitioner Program in Georgia in 1973. He served in the Florida National Guard as Medical Officer with the rank of Captain.
