A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Wade and Lula Freeman Jones. She was a member of Cades Chapel Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cades Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Moss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include four daughters, Gracie Mae Hunt, Elberton, Julia Collins and Marion Meekins, both of New York City, and Sharon Newton, Winder; two sons, Rufus Jones, Elberton, and Ricky Collins, Stone Mountain; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A native of Columbus, Mr. Bugg was a graduate of Columbus Industrial High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He formerly was employed at radio station WABE, Atlanta, and retired from the U.S. Civil Service with its highest civilian award. Mrs. Massey was born in Elbert County, Georgia August 20, 1935 daughter of the late Alvin and Sallie Driver Parnell. She was a homemaker and a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 8:31 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2001 John Eugene Wildman Athens John Eugene Wildman died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 after an extended illness. Mr. Wildman was 67. Born in Parmelle, N.C. on March 5, 1933, Mr. Wildman was the son of Clenden Brown Wildman Rice and the late John David Wildman. He graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, N.C. and was a National Merit Scholar. Mr. Wildman also graduated from Bulock Military Academy in Washington, D.C., after which he received both presidential and congressional appointments to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation he began his naval career by attending the United States Naval Supply Corps School in Athens. After graduation he was stationed first on the USS Ticonderoga followed by a tour of the USS Zellars. Mr. Wildman then served at the Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tennessee. From there he went to The U.S. Naval Language Institute in Anacosta, Virginia, specializing in Arabic studies. After attending the U.S. Naval Intelligence School in Washington, D.C., Mr. Wildman was posted to the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, where he served as assistant naval attache'. Returning to the U.S. Mr. Wildman studied at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a Masters of Business Administration. From California he returned to Athens to NSCS as a staff department head. Mr. Wildman then served a tour in ''I'' Corps, in DaNang, Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Again returning to Athens, Mr. Wildman participated in the U.S. Navy Postgraduate Scholarship Program at the University of Georgia and was awarded a PhD in Business Management. At this time he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary business fraternity. After an assignment at the Defense Electronic Supply Center in Dayton, Ohio, he went on to serve his final tour as a member of the staff of the Chief of the U.S. Naval Supply Corps in Washington, D.C. Mr. Wildman retired from the Navy after 20 years and became an international consultant with Booz-Allen and Hamilton stationed in Washington, D.C. and Tehran, Iran. He returned to Athens just prior to the deposition of the Shah of Iran. Shortly thereafter he established his property management business, Wildman Management. Mr. Wildman was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Athens Country Club, Athens City Club, Bulldog Club, and the President's Club of the University of Georgia. He served as President of the Georgia Museum of Art and was a member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Mr. Wildman is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Birchmore Wildman; two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Wildman and Miriam Bowden Wildman; his mother, Mrs. George Rice, his sister, Mrs. Ward McKeithen, his nieces, Ashley McKeithen Nelson and Millicent McKeithen Kang, and a nephew, Alexander McKeithen. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Rev. Mandy Brady will officiate. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers will be: John E. Broadnax, Jr., Allen D. King, Joel J. Knight, Nathaniel E. Parker, III, William L. Power, James F. Thornton, Jr., Don W. Terry, Jr., and Hudson Whitley.
