She was a 1946 graduate of Kenmore High School and lived in the Athens area for the last 20 years. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Acres Baptist Church. A native of Athens, Mr. Chandler was a son of Jack R. and Bessie Hancock Young. He graduated from Thompson High School in North Dakota in 1962. He also resided in Warner Robins and Winterville. He volunteered for the United States Navy in 1965 as a Boatswain Mate Second Class. During his service in Vietnam, he was MIA presumed dead when his swift boat was sank in the South China Sea near the demilitarized zone. His burial will take place on the 33rd anniversary of his death. He was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Centerville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Centerville Cemetery with the Rev. Mobley Cross officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include, a sister, Jan Young-Tadeo; a brother, J. Joe Young, Warner Robins; and a nephew. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at McCullough Funeral Home.
