A native of Banks County, Mr. Lewallen was a son of the late James and Madge Coffee Lewallen, and was preceded in death by a son, Tony Fair. He was a former mayor and 17-year councilman for the City of Baldwin, and was a former employee of Bryson Auto Parts and Haynes Gailey Pontiac. He was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home, South, with the Revs. Larry Barnes and Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin City Cemetery with Charles White officiating. Survivors include his wife, Helen Lewallen; two daughters, Joan Lewallen Jones, Mt. Loudermilk. She was a homemaker and a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Rice and Clyde Garrison officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include two daughters, Linda F. Amos and Frankie F. A native of Walker County, Mr. Cordell was a son of the late Andrew J. and Flora Fielding Cordell, and was the widower of Sadie Wheeler Cordell. He was a a longtime resident of Toccoa and was a World War II army veteran and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Sliver Star, American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with five bronze service stars and the Bronze Arrowhead. He was a retired life underwriter with Life Of Georgia Insurance Company and was a life member of the VFW. He attended Toccoa First United Methodist Church where he was a past president and teacher of the Curtis Wesley Sunday School Class and served on the administrative board. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Revs. Jack Lamb and Jim Bocian, and Mr. Bryan Stokes officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at LaFayette City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Ryle Stokes Cordell; three stepsons, George Stokes, Raleigh, N.C., Ryle Stokes, Columbia, S.C., and Bryan Stokes, Greer, S.C.; a sister, Edna Smith, Rossville; nieces and nephews.
