Mrs. Criddell was a daughter of the late Garfield and Elizabeth Lawrence and was the widow of Leo Criddell. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Greensboro, and the Brothers and Sisters Society. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Revs. S.L. Williams, Keith Richardson and Kenneth Nelson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Siloam. Survivors include two nieces, Jennifer Lawrence, Stockbridge, and Maggie Lawrence, McDonough; and two nephews, Harold Shelton and Alfonza Shelton, both of Atlanta. The family is at the residence of Claudia Mae Lawrence, 48 Canaan Circle, Greensboro. Watts Funeral Home, Union Point, has charge of arrangements. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:26 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2001 Polly Smith Winterville Ruby Kyle ''Polly'' Smith, 86, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late William B. and Lou Zona Styles Bumgarner and was the widow of James Prentiss Smith. She was employed by Thomas Textile for 39 years and founded Style Rite Manufacturing Co. in 1960, which operated until 1997. She was a Jehovah's Witness. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, with Francis Livengood officiating. Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Strickland, Elaine Dantzler and Eleanor Doster, all of Winterville; two sons, James Prentiss Smith Jr. and B.J. Smith, both of Winterville; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Barry Strickland, David C. Doster, Brant Dantzler, Tommy Strickland, Gerry Smith and Ben Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Hale and Matthew Hale.
