Hawkins are invited to attend funeral services for Mrs. Mary Wright Hawkins on March 21, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Roswell, 710 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, Georgia. Dr. Ron Bradley, Dr. Ken Dobbs, and Dr. William Neal will be officiating. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Roswell to Mr. & Mrs. J.I. Wright in 1921. She demonstrated her love of the Roswell community through her tireless efforts to preserve its history. Her interest in history began in high school when she authored a history of Roswell which was broadcast on an Atlanta radio station. She wrote a short history of Roswell area churches as a contribution to Roswell's bicentennial celebration. She also authored a complete history of the North River Baptist Church and the Child Development Association of North Fulton. Mrs. Hawkins demonstrated her concern for education of children and youth by becoming a Will Watt Fellow for the Roswell Rotary Club which sponsors foreign students to come to Georgia to pursue their studies. She also served as a member of the Mainland Advisory Council of the Hawaii Baptist Academy. Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband, Dr. Aubrey L. Hawkins of Roswell; two daughters: Dr. & Mrs. James C. Wayne (Linda) of Roswell, Mr. & Mrs. Alan Reddish (Carol) of Athens; one son: Mr. Lamar Wright Hawkins of Roswell; two grandsons: Michael & Julie Wayne of Winston-Salem, N.C., Joel & Melissa Wayne of Louisville, Ky.; two granddaughters: Karen Reddish and Lindsay Reddish of Athens. She was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Alan Reddish.
