He was a United States Army World War II veteran serving in the Philippines where he received a Purple Heart Medal. He was a farmer and attended Peniel P.H. Church. She was also a member of the Classic City Gardeners' Club of Athens. A native of Commerce and Banks County, he was born February 19, 1912, a son of the late Harold and Ida Brown Vaughn. He moved to Rome in 1930, and spent most of his life as owner and operator of a Standard Oil Service Station. Member of the North Rome United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Inez Lawrence Vaughn in 1994.
