She was born in Bulloch County, the daughter of the late John L. Johnson and Lela Williams Johnson. She graduated from Statesboro High School and attended Wesleyan Music Conservatory in Macon. With her husband, who was an army officer, she traveled the world, living Panama, Hawaii, Iran, Alaska and other continental military stations. She had resided in Athens, Georgia since 1955 where she was a charter member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. She was the widow of Colonel Barney A. Daughtry and was preceded in death by her son, Barney Avant Daughtry Jr., and her sisters, Vera Bland and Alma Brannen. Surviving are her son, James W. Daughtry and his wife, Betty B. Daughtry, and a daughter-in-law, Shirley L. Daughtry. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura Stockbine, Daniel Daughtry, Anna Burgstiner and Ava Dantis; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday , April 22, at Lower Lott's Creek Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 23. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart, Commendation Medal, and Korean War Medal. He was retired from Holsom Bakery Company and ABB. He was a member of Habersham Mills Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Doris Kittle Harris; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Carl Worley, Sandy and Barry Dawson, Penny and Randy Wilson, Brenda and Kenneth Cunningham; a brother, Gerald Harris; seven grandchildren, Frankie Worley, Christopher Worley, Douglas Dawson, Hope Dawson, April Wilson, Kay C.
