A native of Abbeville, S.C., Mrs. Mills was a daughter of the late Claude and Dorothy Shiftlet. She was of the Baptist faith. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Porter, Jacky Newton and Rand W. Freer officiating. Burial will be in Bethel ''E'' Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Ray Mills; a daughter, Tina Russell, Seneca, S.C.; two sons, Frankie James Outz and Cody Outz, both of Elberton; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joe Sherard, Randy Ruff, Jimmy Newton, Herman Hill, Gerry Carroll and George Carroll. The family is at the home of Gean Ruff, 1013 JoRu Drive, Elberton. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:54 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001 Leonard Postero Athens Leonard Postero Leonard Anthony Postero Sr. of Athens, Ga., age 78, died on July 20 2001. Born on Dec. 11, 1922 in Athens, Leonard was the son of the late Tony and Carlotta Epps Postero. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard F. Postero. Leonard is survived by his wife Elke Wrembek Postero of Athens; daughters Terry Anne Postero of Buffalo, N.Y., Kathy Anne Postero Hutchison and Leslie Francis Postero, both of Athens; sons Quinn Patrick Postero of Atlanta and Leonard Anthony Postero Jr. of Bath, Maine; daughters-in-law Kristie O'Neil Postero of Atlanta and Joan Marie Postero of Bath, Maine; grandchildren Chad Landon Giddens and his wife Jennifer of Grand Prairie, Texas, Korie Hutchison and Wendie Hutchison, both of Athens; nephew Anthony Steve Postero of Scottsdale, Ariz.; niece Nancy Grey Postero of Berkeley, Calif.; and great-uncle Fred Bova of Pittsburgh, Penn. Leonard was a lifelong resident of Athens, graduating from Athens High School and the University of Georgia in 1943. He served from 1943 to 1945 as an aviator for the U.S. Navy, then started a number of successful businesses in Athens. Leonard is best remembered as the creative genius behind ''Leonard's Losers,'' a popular football prognostication publication and radio program heard on a variety of radio stations including Armed Forces Radio. From 1958 through 1999, he wrote and produced the show and performed the colorful voices of ''Leonard Postosties'' and ''Percy Peabody.'' With the late Jim Koger, he developed the first full season of the University of Georgia Basketball Network. Leonard was also a member of many different organizations including the Rotary and Lions Clubs, Elks Club and The Gridiron Society. He was a charter member of the Athens Country Club and was instrumental in starting the Athens High Boosters Club. In 1975, Leonard re-established the Southern Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, serving as its chairman for 10 years. People will always remember Leonard for his colorful personality, generous spirit and contagious sense of humor. There has never been anyone like him. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Charley Trippi, Joe Lewis, Griffin Moody, Zippy Morocco, Tony Salloum, Bob Richardson, William Kimsey and Chad Giddens. The family will be receiving friends at their home on Monday, July 23 between 6 and 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pediatric Speech Rehabilitation Center, Athens Regional Foundation, 1199 Prince Avenue, Athens, Ga. 30606. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:48 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001 Barbara Stancil Athens and Atlanta Photo: obits [INLINE] Barbara Stancil [INLINE] Barbara Pittard Payne Stancil of Athens and Atlanta died July 20, 2001 at her home in Athens. Dr. Stancil was director emeritus of the Gerontology Center at Georgia State University where she founded the center and taught for 40 years. Dr. Stancil was appointed by several governors to be on the Georgia Council on Aging where she served as chairperson. She was a strong advocate for the elderly in Georgia and nationwide. She was a graduate of Oglethorpe University and received her master's and doctorate of philosophy degrees from Emory University. She was a past president of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. She was founder and first president of the Southern Gerontology Association. She was one of the founders of Wesley Woods Incorporated and served on the board from 1979 to 1982 and as emerita board member from 1982 to 1988. She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank E. Stancil Sr. of Athens. They had celebrated their 9th anniversary in May of this year. Her two children are Reverend Betsy Styles of Atlanta and Mr. M. Tarlton Pittard of Eatonton. She had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Surviving stepchildren are Mr. Frank E. Stancil Jr., Mr. Elmer Stancil, Mrs. Jane Towles and Mrs. Suzanne White. She also has nine step grandchildren. Two memorial services are planned for Monday, July 23, 2001: Watkinsville United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Another memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia with family visitation immediately following in the church parlor.
