A native of Banks County, Mr. Leachman was a daughter of the late Ida Minish and Cicero Leachman. He was a farmer and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial with be in Jackson Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Rose Leachman, Commerce; five daughters, Barbara Black and Mary Dailey, both of Ila, Bernice Wilder and Barbara Morgan, both of Commerce, and Betty Ledbetter, of Winder; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Sims was a daughter of the late Jimmy and Geraldine Stephens Curry. She was retired from the University of Georgia. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fairplay Baptist Church, Hull, with Rev. Gazzara Mitchell officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Nell Sims Smith, Gainesville; five sisters, Bibergean Powell and Shirley Mae Gore, Hickory, N.C., Chaistine Betty Jones, Richmond, Calif., Barbara Sue Dukes and Joyce Ann Hopper, both of N.Y.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:59 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2001 Helen Green Athens Mrs. Helen Head Green, a native of Lumpkin County, and a long-time Athens resident, died Sunday May 20, 2001, she was 90. Mrs. Green was the daughter of the late Dr. Homer and Nina McClure Head of Dahlonega, Georgia. After graduating from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, she taught for several years in Toccoa, Georgia. She moved to Athens with her husband Dr. James Allen Green, Jr. in 1946 after accompanying him during military service in Florida. During her lifetime she was a member of Athens Garden Club, Athens Junior Assembly, the Roadrunners, YWCO, and the Fellowship Class at Athens First United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son James A. Green, III of Athens, another son and daughter-in-law Bob and Judy Green of Athens, and a daughter and son-in-law Ann and Hubert Moseley, Jr. of Dawson, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 11:00 a.m. at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Dr. Bill Britt and Rev. Grady Wigley officiating.
