She was a housewife and was a member of Greater Level Hill Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Level Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Duggan officiating. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. Poyner was a son of the late Thomas and Ellen Callaway Poyner. He was retired from Webb and Crawford Produce and was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He received the American Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with a Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. H.L. Dotson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Doris M. A native of Thomason, Mr. Sill was a son of the late Jack Radford Sill and Mary Florence McGahee Sill and was the widower of Ruth Velta Skeen Sill. He was preceded in death by a son, Hodges Ashley Sill. He retired as owner of Hodges Sill Insurance Agency in 1984. He was associated with Hardware Mutual Insurance Co. and Associated Mutuals, both in Atlanta. He was a former member of Athens Kiwanis Club, Athens Elks Club. He was president and area director of Administrative Management Society. He was a member of Forest Park Lodge No. 399, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Georgia No. 75, Forest Park, and Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Old Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson, S.C. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ashley Sill; a daughter, Bettye Parks, Aiken, S.C.; a sister, Madonna S. Holley, Decatur; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:01 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2001 Mack H. Guest Jr. Athens Mach H. Guest, Jr., 77, died February 21, 2001. A native of Sumter County, GA, he was a son of the late Mack H. Guest, Sr and Mamie Garrison Guest, and was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sarah Elizabeth Johnson. A graduate of Americus High School, he attend Berry College in Rome, GA. He served in the U.S. Army 387th Field Artillery Battalion during WW II and returned to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science and Chemistry. Following graduation, Mr. Guest became County Extension Agent with Terrell County. Mr. Guest was employed in 1951 with Georgia Farm Bureau and later pioneered their insurance program. In 1961, he went to work with American Farm Bureau as Field Staff Director for the Southern Region for 27 years until his retirement in June, 1988. During his career, he was recognized by the Bureau with many Distinguished Leadership awards. In 1992 he served as a consultant to the American Farm Bureau for 3 years. A former resident of Macon, Ga, he was a past member of Mulberry United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Moose Club, VFW, American Legion, Berry Alumni Society, UGA Alumni Society, President's Club of UGA, Athens Touchdown Club, and founder of Central High School Booster Club. Mr. Guest was founder and President of Men's Club at Huntcliff Summit in Atlanta and a member of Athens First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 24, 2001, at 11:00 AM at Athens First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bill Britt officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery, Macon. Pallbearers will be Mack H. Guest, IV, Adam Joseph Cornett, Garrison Guest, William Steven Haugabook, Jr., Jody Tanner, and Chuck Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Tuck Sunday School Class and Willie Geter. Survivors include a daughter and son in law, June Guest and Joseph J. Cornett of Alpharetta; three sons and daughters in law, Mack H., III, and Camilla Morris Guest, Judson Johnson and Paula Wolfe Guest, all of Athens, and David Joseph and Debbie Cole Guest of Alpharetta. All of the children are graduates of The University of Georgia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, and one sister, Claire Brown of Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
