A native of Logan County, W.V., Mr. Beaman was a son of the late Oscar and Maude Minton Beaman and was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Beaupre. He was a World War II air force veteran having served in the South Pacific and was a member of VFW Post 9738. He was a retired aircraft mechanic with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Dayton, Ohio. A native Jones County, the Rev. Simmerson was a son of the late Wilbur Clarence and Nellie Mae Pipkins Simmerson. He had lived in Athens since 1964 and had pastored at Carlton Baptist, Danielsville Baptist, Danberg Baptist and Ebenezer Baptist in Wilkes County. He was a chaplain in the air force and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Hoyt Johnson officiating. Survivors include his wife, Sybil Malcom Simmerson; a daughter, Judy Peck, Colbert; and two sisters, Louise Guest, Athens, and Lavonia Hendrix, Savannah. A native of Fulton County, Mr. Sanderlin was a son of the late John C. and Joan Upchurch Sanderlin. He was a graduate of Atlanta public schools and held a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. He was a member and past president of the Athens Jaycees and was a member of the Press Club. He had retired as senior editor from the Athens Observer on June 15, 2001. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include two brothers, Sidney Sanderlin and Christopher Sanderlin, both of Atlanta. Mr. James was born May 3, 1912, in Franklin County, a son of the late Joseph Clinton and Cora Leona Teate James. He operated Jefferson Western Auto Store for 22 years and attended Faith Baptist Church, Jefferson. Mr. James was a life member of the Jefferson Lions Club for 48 years with a perfect attendance for 48 years, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janelle Drake. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Dr. Gerald Mitton officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Members of the Jefferson Lions Club and the American Legion served as honorary pallbearers. Mr. James is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lavinia Odom James, Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law, Beverley and Jerome Fleeman, Gastonia, N.C.; daughter, Catherine James Piper, widow of the late Dr. James H. Piper, Elberton; grandchildren, Samuel Jerome Fleeman Jr. and wife Angie, Lavinia Elizabeth Hughes and husband Charles, Linda Lou Ford and husband Vic, and Amy Katherine Piper-James and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Samuel Jerome Fleeman III, Bailey Ann Fleeman, Victoria Elizabeth Hughes, Benjamin James Hughes and Kelsey Elizabeth Ford; and nieces and nephews. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 11:16 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2001 Miss Faith O'Sheal Lavonia Miss Faith O'Sheal, age 93, of 7466 Georgia Highway 59, Lavonia, died Friday night, June 22, 2001 at Ty Cobb Healthcare System, Royston. A native Lavonian, Miss O'Sheal was born November 17, 1907 to the late Joseph Daneil and Coda Fulbright O'Sheal. She was a graduate of Lavonia High School and was employed for a number of years in the Franklin County Ordinary's Office; later she served fifteen years as City Clerk for the City of Lavonia, a position she held until her retirement. Miss O'Sheal was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher in the Primary Department for over fifty years. She was also a member of the church's VIP Club. She was an avid Bible reader and remained active in several hobbies including gardening, crocheting, sewing and the lost art of tatting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Pearl O'Sheal Parker and Lucy Belle O'Sheal. Also by a brother, Robert Glenn O'Sheal. Survivors include three nieces, Martha J. Parker, Lithia Springs, Glenda Bates, Longwood, Fla., and Elizabeth Copeland, Elgin, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Rachel O'Sheal, Athens; two great-nieces and a great-nephew, along with a host of cousins, also survive. Services for Miss O'Sheal will be Monday morning at 11 O'Clock from the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Reverend Charles Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Lavonia City Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 in the afternoon and evening. The body will be placed in the church on Monday at 10:30 to lie in state until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bus Fund, Lavonia First Baptist Church, P.O.
