He was a self employed electrician, and a member and former chief of South Jackson Fire Department. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. She was retired office manager of parking services at the University of Georgia, a member of the Emory Hill United Methodist Church in Tucker, and the American Hosta Society. The family would to say a special thank you to the friends who helped and comforted her through her long battle with breast cancer. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:44 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2001 Emmett Alton Rogers Milledgeville Emmett Alton Rogers, 91, died Monday, June 25, 2001 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Milledgeville with burial to follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Mr. Rogers came to Milledgeville in 1922 to attend Georgia Military College. Upon graduation he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with a BS degree in Management. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. After retiring from the US Department of Treasury, he was an officer with All Farm Sales Real Estate, and was an independent appraiser. He was a member of the Milledgeville Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was a member and past president of the Milledgeville Georgia Tech Alumni Club. Active with the local and state Republican Party, he served as chairman of the local party and vice-chairman of the 10th District. He was recently honored at the Georgia 10th Congressional District for his many years of service to the Republican Party. He was also a Mason and was a member of the Benevolent Lodge #3 for 58 years. He was K.Y.C.H. recipient and was the Grand Commander of the State of Georgia in 1959 for the Grand Commandery of the Georgia Knights Templar. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry for many years. He was married for 53 years to Frances Bonner Rogers. His son, Emmett Alton Rogers, Jr., of Macon, Georgia and his daughter Patricia Rogers Tripp of Athens, Georgia, survives him. He is also survived by five grandchildren: John Hamilton Tripp, Elizabeth Summerall Tripp, Saralyn Rogers, Cassandra Rogers Beall, and Amy Rogers Dueley.
