C. Carey Road died Thursday, April 26, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mr. Dobbs was a son of the late Hulda Burnett Dobbs and J.T. Dobbs. He was retired from Harmony Grove Hills and was a member of Galilee Fire Baptized Holiness Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Galilee Fire Baptized Holiness Church with the Revs. Larry Dyer and Bill Preskitt officiating. The body will be placed in the church from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Meadows Dobbs; two daughters, Marie Orr, Gray Court, S.C., and Ann Scherer, Bogart; two sons, David Dobbs, Royston, and John Dobbs, Danielsville; three sisters, Bernice Compton and Annett Thomas, both of Comer, and Lula Hart, Royston; seven grandchildren. A native of Cartersville, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Alvis O. and Kitty Tumlin Land, and was the widow of James H. Carter. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 45 years. She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, was a Sunday school teacher, Girls Auxiliary Leader, and active with WMU. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Women's Bible Class and a life member of the Southern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She was a volunteer at the Barrow School Library, Adult Literacy Program, and the International Program of the Serepta Baptist Association. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bridges Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Miller Huckabee officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include a sister, Mildred Hallyburton, Drexel, N.C; nieces and nephews. After graduation he entered the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant. He married and became a resident of London England. Willie was the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Scott of Athens. Memorial services will be held in Athens on Saturday, April 8, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Abraham Mosley officiating.
