She was retired from Commerce Sportswear and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. A native of Rockway Beach, N.Y., Mr. Swain was a son of the late Richard Albert Swain and Ruth Ella George Swain and was preceded in death by his first wife, Bette Swain. He was active in the Hart County Habitat for Humanity where he served on the board of directors. He was a member of the Care-a-vanner Habitat Group and served as a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels. He was a Presbyterian elder and an active member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the Building Committee. He was a U.S. Navy submarine veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the Subvets, Inc., the U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII and the American Legion Post 109. He was a charter member of the Hart County Golden K Kiwanis Club. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sharon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lawton Daugherty officiating. He was employed by Marriott Courtyard of Athens and was a member of the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia. John McDowell on Thursday, March 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Center. Burial will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
