Austin Winder Lillie Mae M. Austin, 88, died Sunday, May 27, 2001. The daughter of the late Wiley B. and Maggie Davidson Moore, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Fred Austin. She was employed as a seamstress by Superior Garment for more than 40 years and was a member of Chapel Christian Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Albert Askew and the Rev. Russ Johns officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Louise and Price Pethel, Sierra Madres, Cal.; and sisters Myrtle Thurmond of Statham, Nell Payne of Bogart and Bertie Sosbee of Winder, formerly of Bogart. A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Sims and Minnie Lester Sims. She was a member of Russell Chapel A.M.E. Church. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Russell Chapel A.M.E. with the Rev. Charles Dickey officiating. The body will lie in state at the church at noon. Burial will be in the Friendship Church Cemetery. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bowman United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, and a former member of the Eastern Star in Elberton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe David. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Hamilton and Rev. Sharon Waters officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman. Survivors include four daughters, Anita Dickerson, Bowman, Alice Hoyt Ogles, Clarksville, Tenn., Mary Jo Pichulik, Atlanta and Rebecca David, Dewy Rose; a son, James G. OBITUARIES Story last updated at 9:36 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2001 Katharine Sudekem Athens Katharine Rose Sudekum, 49, died Sunday, May 27, 2001. A native of Plainfield, N.J. and longtime resident of Bloomsbury, N.J., she was a daughter of Lothar and Violet Sudekum, presently of Grand Rapids, Mich. Katharine was a 1974 graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, with a degree in music, and a 1985 graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., with a master's degree in library science. During her career, she worked for several library automation companies and retired from Follett Software Company in February, 2001. Katharine was a hot air balloon pilot and an ailurophile. She was an exceptional friend whose friendships spanned the nation. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the family farm in Bloomsbury, N.J. Survivors in addition to her parents include her sister, Dr. Margaret Sudekum of Ada, Mich.; a hosts of friends who were with her in her final days: Kyle Davis, Tim Strand, Eric Schoneberger, Pat McLeod, Nancy Drury, Jim Linkin, Cynthia Call, Vanna Campbell, Sharon Shotwell and Dr. Monica Kucher; and her beloved animal family: Mingus, Shmedley and Sweetie Pie.
