A native of Greene County, Mrs. Lumpkin was a daughter of the late Richard Wilson and Maggie R. Wilson, and was a widow of John Lumpkin. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, BYPU teacher, president of the usher board, Women's Department and worked with the Sunbeam Youth Department. She organized the Woodville Social Club that lasted 47 years. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. William Smith officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was a principal of Oconee Street School for 14 years, and after retirement was a Emeritus Member of Athens Area Retired Educators Association. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on committees. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Haskell officiating.
