Mildred Wheless Baerne

   Mildred Wheless Baerne, 85, of 49 Crooked Creek Road died Friday, June 30, 
2000.
   A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Baerne was a daughter of the late Howard 
and Hester Lester Wheless and was the widow of Joe Baerne. She was a homemaker 
and was a member of Attica Baptist Church.
   Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Redstone Methodist Church with the 
Rev. Doug Conwell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
   Survivors include two daughters, Freda Tiller and Annie Jo Motes, both of 
Athens; two sons, Roy Baerne, Nicholson, and Jack Baerne, Athens; two sisters, 
Polly Epps and Clyde Parham, both of Athens; a brother, James Wheless, Athens; 
six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Pallbearers will be Russell Tiller, Michael Tiller, Ryan Baerne, Chris 
Motes, Tom Wilson and Doug Moore.
   The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, 
Jefferson.
