AND MRS. CLAUD BAXTER The Banner, Athens, GA Friday morning, January 23, 1902 DOD : January 18, 1902 INFANT FOUND DEAD IN BED Sad Experience of Mrs. Claud Baxter Sunday Morning The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Baxter, who reside in East Athens was found dead in bed Sunday morning. Mr. Baxter had gone to the home of his mother, near-by, for a few minutes and the mother was left to dress the child, after which the family were to spend the day with Mrs. Baxter’s mother, Mrs. Seagraves. When Mrs. Baxter went to the bed side to get the child she was horror-stricken to find the little one dead. The child was alive and apparently perfectly well at 3 o’clock Sunday morning. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon at 8 o’clock and the remains were interred in Oconee cemetery. Transcribed by C. Epps Bond March 24, 2006.
