Benedict Rites Set For Friday
   Services for Alvin C. Benedict will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3
o’clock from the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with Rev. Obie Hammond and Rev.
Herchel Ollie officiating.
   The body will be in state for one hour prior to the services.
  Interment will be in the Whitehall Cemetery.  Bernstein Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements.  Pall-bearers will be Clarence Cunningham, Chapel Tate, Grady
Fleeman, Towns Roberts, Jim Brooks and Travis Patridge.
   Mr. Benedict is survived by four daughters, Mrs. M.E. Anderson, Mrs. C.R.
Hunter, Mrs. Lena Pearson and Miss Sarah Benedict, all of Athens; son, Robert
Benedict, Athens; sister-in-law, Mrs. Clyde Benedict, Athens, nine grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
   Mr. Benedict died in a local hospital Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock.  Death
came unexpectedly.  He was 77 years old, a native and lifelong resident of the
community and lived on the Barnett Shoals Road.
