The Presbyterian denomination, to which faith she subscribed has no church in Winterville, and so, for many years Mrs. Pittard was active in the work of the Methodist church. For some years she san in the choir and until recently when her health became impaired, she was very active in missionary circles. One of her outstanding characteristics was her thoughtfulness and consideration. Especially so was this in cases of sickness. Many and many is the sickroom to which she brought comfort and hope, material benefits and cheerful optimism and there are scores today who feel their best friend has left them. Before her health began to fail, she was very prominent in all movements to better her town and community. She was active in all lines of civic endeavor and played a prominent role in the social life of Winterville and Athens. There has hardly been a more respected, more beloved couple in Clarke county than she and her late husband, J.T. Pittard and in her passing the county loses on if its most valued citizens, as was the case when her husband preceded her in death. Hundreds of friends throughout this section are extending their sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family in the hour of their great loss File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/clarke/obits/b/ob6535bryant.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.3 Kb
