The casket was borne forward to the chancel by Messrs. A. H. Hodgson, E. I. Smith, J. C. Hutchins, H.H. Linton, T. P. Vincent and W. C. Orr, as the solemn strains of the organ pealed forth the notes of that divine hymn, “Some Sweet Day.” The hymn, “Sat at Home,” was then sung to the tune of “Suwanee River,” and Dr. W. E. Boggs read a lesson from the XV chapter of 1st Corinthians. The choir then sang “Rest for the Weary,” after which Dr. Boggs offered up a fervent prayer. After reading a lesson from the 12th chapter of Hebrews, Dr. Boggs made a few very appropriate remarks concerning the Christian experience of the deceased. The choir then sang “Nearer My God to Thee.” As the recessional hymn, “Asleep in Jesus” was sung by the choir, the casket was born to the hearse and the funeral cortege proceeded to Oconee cemetery where the remains of Mrs. Collins were tenderly and lovingly laid to rest.
