BIBB DAVIS The Banner, Athens, GA Friday Morning, May 22, 1903 DOD: May 20, 1903 MRS BIBB DAVIS DIED WEDNESDAY The Remains Were Brought To Athens and Interred In Oconee Cemetery The many friends of Mrs. Bibb Davis were grieved to learn of her death Wednesday morning at the home of her sister in East Point, GA. Mrs. Davis had been ill for some time and for the past few weeks of her life had been at one of the hospitals in Atlanta. A few days since she suffered from a paralysis of the throat and her condition was seen to be very serious. Tuesday Mrs. Davis was removed to the home of her sister in East Point, where she died a short while later. The remains of Mrs. Davis were brought to Athens Wednesday afternoon for interment and were laid to rest in Oconee cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Dr. B. Bibb Davis, of this city. The remains were met at the Seaboard depot by quite a number of friends and were carried at once to the cemetery where the funeral services were conducted. The casket was borne to the grave by the pallbearers, Messers. R. C. Orr, E. D. Sledge, James Barrow, John Gerdine, J. H. Dozier and T. F. Green. At the grave the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Troy Beatty, rector of Emmanuel church, in a most solemn and impressive manner, after which the body was tenderly and lovingly laid to rest.
