Chapter VI Patience Hemrick and Descendants pg 79 CHAPTER VI PATIENCE HEMRICK See obituary, Connie transcribed information at bottom of obit. Pg 79 Chapter VI, PATIENCE HEMRICK This is transcribed word per word from the book. Pages 79-90 covers Patience Hemrick Dunaway and Marion L Dunaway and their children. I did not transcribe all of the children as one can see it is a lengthy document. Patience Hemrick (2), daughter of John Hemrick and Mary Elizabeth Buchanan, was born in Surry County, North Carolina on 5 Febraury 1839. She was an infant in arms when her parents moved to Jackson County, GA., and grew to maturity in the old Princeton Factory District of present Clarke County (Athens). She lived in this area all of her life. She was lovingly called “Pace” or “Aunt Pace” by her many relatives and was certainly a credit to her given name. She bore the teasings and antics of some of her brothers calmly and patiently, not always with understanding. She was incapable of cruelty to either people or animals and her tender heart was easily moved by the distress of others. It is true that she was gullible to a fault; believing any and everything she was told; believing that everyone had good intentions, and ever and always forgiving to all who teased her or hurt her feelings. She bore no malice towards anyone and was often the anchor – so solid and comforting – to her other relatives, friends and children in times of stress. Her quiet soothing presence could be counted on in illness, sorrow or need and she was always available to lend an attentive ear and helping hands to those who called her, night or day. Skipped third paragraph Patience Hemrick was quite small but had the direct piercing blue-green eyes of most of the Hemricks . Skipped part of this paragraph.
