Frank Hardeman, the ten-year-old son of Jas. H. Hardeman, had been plowing a very large mule during the day. A little after 5 o'clock he unhitched the mule preparatory to going home. His father helped him on the mule's back, and as soon as the boy was seated, the mule jumped and ran. The boy tried to jump off but his foot caught in the traces and he was dragged some two hundred or more yards. The clothes were torn completely from him and his back and head were badly bruised. One of his eye-balls was torn out, and altogether he was badly knocked up. The boy has been unconscious since the accident, and the doctors cannot tell yet whether or not he is internally injured. The little fellow is one mass of bruises, and but little hope is entertained for his recovery. The doctors think there is some hope for him if he is not internally hurt, but his eye sight will probably be destroyed should he recover. Yesterday the little fellow was resting easier being under the influence of morphine. Additional Comments: He's buried in the Lester cemetery in Clarke Co., GA as Frank Hardman 1874- 1887.
