D. R. HESTER Weekly Banner, Athens, Georgia, December 27, 1907 Transcribed by C. Epps Bond October 3, 2005 Mrs. HESTER DIED YESTERDAT MORNING An Estimable Lady Passes Away after Brief Illness Mrs. D. R. Hester, after an illness with pneumonia for the past week, died yesterday morning at her home on Jackson street in this city. Mrs. Hester had been waiting on her husband who has been ill for quite a while and about a week since took a severe cold which settled into pneumonia. Her decline was rapid and all efforts to check the progress of the disease were unavailing. Mrs. Hester was a niece of Mr. Henry Heard, of this city and of Hon. Columbus Heard, of Greene county. She leaves a husband, but no children. She was a member of the First Methodist church and a most estimable Christian lady, numbering her friends by her acquaintances. Her death has cast a pall of sorrow over many hearts. The remains of Mrs. Hester will be carried this morning to Siloam, Greene county, where the interment will take place.
